Equality Now welcomes news of Shadi Sadr’s release from prison

Iran: Equality Now welcomes the news of Shadi Sadr’s release from prison on 28 July 2009 following her illegal arrest.

Shadi Sadr, an Iranian human rights activist and lawyer, was violently beaten and abducted by plain-clothes officials while on her way to Friday prayers in Tehran on 17 July 2009. Shadi’s friends and family were not informed of any charges against her. Equality Now is delighted to learn that she has been released from prison. We would like to thank all our members for their concerted efforts in contacting the Iranian government for Shadi’s release.
