Are you ready to campaign to save Dollhouse?
« on: September 29, 2008, 11:20:38 AM »
What does everyone think about all the Dollhouse mania going on?

http://whedonesque.com/comments/17727

It keeps popping up all over the 'verse - on sites like Whedonesque, FFF.net, etc.

I don't even know if I'll *like* the show.  I don't know if I'm ready to picket just yet.

Not ready to go to bat for Dollhouse until I see it.  I'm pretty sure Joss will give us some cool characters, but I'm just not convinced I'll fall in love with this one yet.

Though I guess my first impression of Firefly wasn't much better.  I saw the little preview commercials on Fox and thought it was like a Jossed up version of Babylon 5 or something.  I didn't even get the space western feel from their previews.  Even the train job didn't totally sell me.  If it weren't for kicking a guy through the engine I would have been pretty "meh" on the whole thing.  Given some time though Firefly showed it's real depth.

So, I guess I'm not the best first impression person.  I'll stick with my wait and see strategy.

I think it is silly to preemptively protest something.  I mean rumors fly around and everyone grabs their keyboards and start their protesting.  It hasn't happened yet people.  I'm like you all.  I'm not about to protest something I'm not even sure I'll like yet.  What if people protest and it is a bunch of crap (highly unlikely but hey everyone has their ups and downs).

I can't remember where I read it but I agree...someone stated that protesting something that hasn't yet happened solely based on rumor belittles our fight we had with Firefly.  It lessens the impact of anything we seriously want our voices heard on.  It makes us seem like we will protest at the drop of a hat.  If I were the execs I'd start making rumors just to mess with us.  They will shake their heads at us and say "Silly Browncoats."  ;D

I agree.  Definitely a wait and see situation.  :)

But Zeek, I had to laugh about the kicking a guy into an engine thing...   :D
I think that's what sold Mike on Firefly!
Mal: "If anyone gets nosy, just...you know... shoot 'em. "
Zoe: "Shoot 'em?"
Mal: "Politely."
