I am SO glad that that worked out so well! And I am glad that people seemed genuinely interested in the teas!

I am trying to get some linkage to the Adagio Firefly teas by mass emailing friends and family and I made a post on my LJ and plan to post to a couple of communities (Firefly Fans and Tea Fiends types). And you guys spread the word, too!!

Also, I have made 4 new teas! All inspired by Firefly characters! I have emailed Adagio to see if they can be added to the part of the site that will donate $1 per tin sold. But, sometimes it takes awhile to hear back.

In the meantime, the teas are up an available through my blends site:
http://www.adagio.com/signature_blend/list.html?userId=87788&sid=46426ea6a051ed050db7e4a74fc83e28&scrollTop=14319

or at least they should show up eventually (they don't seem to be there right this second).
But they ARE available on the main Blends page:

Serenitea: Kaylee (vanilla rooibos and wild strawberries)
Serenitea: Nandi (passionfruit and peach black teas)
Serenitea: Shepard Book (vanilla oolong, rooibos, gunpowder green)
Serenitea: Simon (Irish Breakfast, black currant and berries)

The plan at the moment is that with the points I earn for the sale of ANY of my teas I will spend them to obtain tins of the Sereniteas and Firefly (and possibly SereniTEA and Fruity Oaty Bar) which can then be sold at booths and all the profits go to Equality Now or a charity of the Austin Browncoats' choice. This is the by-the-seat-of-my-pants plan of the moment. We'll see how it falls out in real life :)

There will be more coming as well. Also, as a side note, no special artwork on the tins, yet. So, if you buy it now it will have the dofer pic of tea tree covered hills.

Buy tea! Change the World!

I can vouch, the Inara tea is wonderful!  Hey, where can that Buffy/blood orange with chocolate tea be found?

I bought Buffy and Malcolm today - so I am excited for those to come in.

I also took my first shot at making a blend for Dr Horrible :)

I think I have created monsters....TEA MONSTERS!! lol

Seriously, though - what do you guys think of seeing about getting some canisters ($50+ is free shipping) and selling them at Cons and such? We can do the Firefly inspired blends, Buffy and Dr. Horrible :)

Here is the full listing of Sereniteas (there are still three characters I will create, but they are going to be the trickiest, I think, so, must be patient!):

Nandi: Passionfruit and Peaches (black tea)
Kaylee: Vanilla and Wild Strawberries (rooibos)
Simon: Irish Breakfast, currants and berries (black tea)
Shepard Book: Vanilla oolong, rooibos, gunpowder green (mix blend)
Zoe: kukicha green, cherries and other fruits, gunpowder (green tea)
Badger: earl grey, rum flavored black and apples (black tea)
Wash: Valentines (chocolate and strawberries), tropical fruit, coconut (black tea)

Still to come: Jayne, River and Yo-Saf-Bridge

Also, I made artword for the teas!! I really like the images, so please check them out!
http://www.adagio.com/signature_blend/list.html?userId=87788&sid=9397deec5b93f9f38ec91fd963d44823&scrollTop=14675

I have enough points to garner 3 tins. I think I will get Badger, Kaylee and Shepard Book (and I might spring for some Simon out of pocket *grin*). If anyone else has points they'd like to spend to get some tins we can maybe try these out at the tea party!!!

We can then let Ilya et al know how we like the blends so that they can work on perfecting them for the Firefly section with the Mal and Inara teas!!!

I am trying to think how this would work (how much would the tea have to sell for to make it worth it...)  It would be neat also to make smaller samples for ppl who don't want to commit to a big tin of it.

These are all questions I have been thinking about a bit. Small tins should be fairly easy to come by (and pretty cheaply) at Michael's, and I can look into that. Selling in the smaller tins would help, I think, with making some money. For instance, a tin is $10, but could be broken down into, say, 3 tins that cost $5-7.

I will use my bonus points as often as I can to help out because that means free tins! Also, I believe Beth had sent Ilya an email awhile back about some businessy related stuff vis-a-vis buying it in bulk or whatnot (she can explain that tho).

But, anyway, I think you bring up good questions and we can keep talking and planning and it will be a novel item to have at the tables and, I think Beth also thought about doing something off website as well (this might work best with the smaller tins since those are things WE can put together once tea has been ordered from Adagio).

Any other thoughts?

Ilya and I are still working on the business-y stuff right now, but hopefully it will all work out.

If we could resell these teas, how many do you think we should bring to D*C?

Oh, I do love a challenge. :)

Do you want the big tins or would you like me to make small tins, or both? I have been doing some googling and calling and I think I can get 3-4oz round tins pretty easily and fairly cheaply, so one big tin could make 2-3 small tins. (still need to do some research and testing on this part!)

The teas seemed decently popular at CSTS so maybe two small tins of each of the new blends and 2 each of the Mal and Inara? And should we include Firefly and any of the others? (the tea should keep as long as we store it well, so whatever doesn't sell could be sold elsewhere or......sipped on by us *grin*)

Lemme ponder on all this some - takes my brain a little longer to work through problems of late ;)

Ooh, and we finally have some Mal Copy:

https://www.adagio.com/firefly/blend.html?blend=2363&SID=7177d6227e14a02d437a6603f8631713

What do you guys thinks?

""If the Wind blows Northerly, I go North." Known as Mal by his friends and crew, he is a straight shooter; a simple man. He's the Captain of the ship, Serenity, and an unlikely hero. But he's also loyal to a fault, and a space-age Robin Hood, stealing from the rich and, well, selling to the poor, which is why a fancy tea blend would not do for Our Mr. Reynolds. There are very few things he needs in this 'verse, but gunpowder is one of them. Add a little mandarin green to the already full-bodied, smoky cup of tea and you have a glimpse into the mind of Mal – no matter how many times he tells you that it's every man for himself, let it be known he will do whatever it takes to protect his crew."

Sidenote:  I wrote it, so be gentle.  :)

I like it - most folks who come to buy should already be fans and will enjoy the description.

Zee - can you enlighten me on the points system... it seems I got points for sending two $5 gift certs, and maybe 10 or 20 points when a blend was sold?  I logged in and it told me I got 60 points on my blend, but I am not sure how  ???
