Can't say I blame Fox on this one.  Heck I don't even think we should have made it to season 2.  This just wasn't up to par with Joss's other shows.

Now bring on Cabin in the Woods.

Maybe they were slow in canceling it because they were moving at the speed of the plot development. Lol
