Although the official announcement is supposed to be out on Monday, it has already been posted on a few sites that the contracts are signed for a second 13 episode season. First off, I am very happy for Joss and the rest of the cast and crew. I would like to say "It couldn't have happened to a better show." But, although I like it and I have been following it, it has not gripped me like Firefly did. That said, I am excited about what the second season might bring.

As a reminder, the DVD is due out in July and the final episode of the season will be included.

I'm very happy for Joss and co., though I haven't seen any of the series yet.

There will be two unaired episodes in the DVD set - the original pilot, 'Echo', and 'Epitaph One', which features Felicia Day.

Glad to hear Dollhouse will get a second season, I've been enjoyin' the series from the start.  But I am kind of bummed that the episodes will be shorter.  I read that instead of fifty minutes, they'll be cut down to forty-two.

shorter time = less time to develope convoluted intrigue plots :(
shorter time = more advertisement interest? ???  Is this ultimately good thing?

Well now I just have no respect for them.  The rumors were that the Buffy, Angel and Firefly DVD sales numbers played a big role in their decision.  That's just gross.  They decide that Firefly did so well on DVD that instead of bringing that back when they had a chance they'll give us some other show instead.  Sure we get something for our hard work but it's still not what I really wanted.

The funny part is I'm not really interested in buying Dollhouse on DVD.  The first 5 episodes were blah IMO.  Then there were like 4 really Jossish episodes and like 4 more decent but not great episodes.  Those 4 good episodes are not going to inspire me to buy the DVD set unless it's on sale for a really good price.
