FAQ

Austin Browncoats receives a number of email requests and questions from our website visitors. As we compile more frequently asked questions, we'll add the pertinent ones to our webpage. Please email us if you have a question that is not answered on our website. If you have a question that is more specific, or you feel that it needs to be immediately addressed by a certain department or person, you can find our email addresses here.

What is a Browncoat?

This is a question that one 'FAQ' page cannot answer properly. A 'Browncoat' isn't one thing. Being a Browncoat is organic and person-dependent.

From Wikipedia, "Browncoat is a term applied to fans of the short-lived television series Firefly. The name is based on a nickname for the Independent Faction from the series."

How do I become a member of Austin Browncoats?

Everyone is a member of Austin Browncoats! But more seriously, we will soon have actual "Membership Packages" for individuals and families that want to support our charitable efforts with a yearly contribution, as well as receive the many membership bonuses we have to offer. In the meantime, please join our forum and post in our 'Meet and Greet' thread. We look forward to meeting more Austin Browncoats in the future!

Do you know Joss Whedon and can you get him to read my screenplay for a Firefly Season 2?

Yes, we do know Joss Whedon. (Much like any fan "knows" their favorite writer/director/producer.) Unfortunately, we cannot assist you in your screenplay endeavors, but we wish you the best of luck in all you do! If you get Firefly Season 2 made, please let us know so we can squee and do the dance of joy.

Can you give us contact information for our BDH's?

We can assist you with how to get an autographed photo from our Big Damn Heroes, but cannot and will not give out any personal information. Sorry!

How do we become a Non-Profit Organization?

That is state specific. If you are a Texas Organization, we can assist you with the process as we know it. If you are from another state, we can help you compile information required to become a Non-Profit from the appropriate state websites, but do not have any professional expertise in this field. We recommend seeking assistance from your Secretary of State Department.
